Graham Marcus Lawrence

25/9/1961 - 31/8/2019

Graham was my younger brother.  He lived a frugal lifestyle, was a long-term vegetarian and worked for the Barnet Library Service for almost 30  years.  Graham was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2018 and died 10 months afterward.

When we cleared Graham's house after his death, we found an art portfolio bag that contained almost all of the content that you see in this website.  Only The Thistles and Telephone were framed and displayed.  Graham only painted for a few years whilst at school and college up to 1981; there were a few works in 1989 but nothing afterward.  A lot of the content you see here was preparatory work for for 'O' and 'A' levels - the actual exam pieces are here as well.

Graham suffered a breakdown in 1981, taking a moratorium from his undergraduate fine art course at Central St. Martins and never returning.  The screen print (or possibly a lino cut) St Katherine's Dock is the only work that he kept from the course - it looks as though everything else was left at the college.
